GENERAL AUTHORTY OF MEDIA REGULATION

Terrestrial Broadcast Station License

The Terrestrial Broadcast Station License is an official permit issued by the General Authority for Media Regulation in Saudi Arabia. It authorizes institutions and companies to operate terrestrial broadcast stations that provide audiovisual and audio content through radio frequencies for television and radio services. The license aims to organize radio and television broadcasting services ensuring the quality of content, compliance with technical and regulatory standards set by the authority, and protecting public rights to balanced and reliable media content.

Applicants must be the owner or manager of the institution or company, hold a commercial registration with the required media activity, have a clear national address, and possess valid identification (national ID, residency, or passport). A detailed economic and operational feasibility study accepted by the authority is required along with proof of ownership or leasing of property and equipment to sustain the license. The licensee must provide the Authority with a list of service operators and commit not to provide services to unauthorized entities.

The license is valid for three years, with renewal possible upon fulfilling all conditions. The issuance process takes about 30 working days after completion of required documents through the 'E’lam' electronic services platform.
