VAT Specialist Test
The Application Service for the Value Added Tax (VAT) Specialist Exam is an essential electronic service provided by the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants in cooperation with the General Authority of Zakat and Tax in Saudi Arabia. This service offers a full digital platform for candidates specializing in VAT to register for a professional certification exam designed to assess their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in applying VAT regulations according to Saudi laws and international standards.
Eligibility to sit for the exam requires holding recognized accounting qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, SOCPA’s professional certification (CPA, Technician, Fellowship), or equivalent international accreditations (AICPA, ICAEW, ACCA, etc.). Exam fees are SAR 1,200 for the initial attempt and SAR 500 for each retake, with mandatory preparatory training provided by SOCPA or authorized institutions.
The exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 150 minutes, requiring a minimum pass mark of 60%. Candidates may request exam deferral up to 30 days prior. The service enables online registration, fee payment, and tracking of exam application status, with access to extensive preparatory materials including simulated exams and tutorials for effective preparation.
