Professional Certification Testing in IFRS
The Application for the Professional Certificate Exam in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a digital service offered by the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants. It enables professionals to apply for an officially accredited exam that measures their knowledge and proficiency in applying IFRS. This service targets accountants and holders of accounting-related qualifications, providing an opportunity to earn a highly recognized professional certificate that advances their careers both in the Saudi market and internationally.
Registration is done through the organization’s online platform, with candidates uploading personal data and academic documents, and choosing preferred city and exam date from the official schedule (typically in Riyadh, Jeddah, or Dammam). Applicants must hold at least a bachelor’s or diploma degree in accounting or an accepted related field. The fee is 1,200 SAR for a first attempt and 500 SAR for retakes, with a reduced fee of 500 SAR for those who have completed the first and second preparatory courses.
The exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions over 120 minutes, with a 60% pass mark. Candidates are allowed two additional attempts before they must retake preparatory courses for further chances. Applications are processed within ten business days, and candidates must confirm their seat via the National Center for Assessment 21 days prior to the exam. Only one deferral is allowed with at least 30 days’ advance notice. The Human Resource Development Fund provides financial support upon passing the exam, fostering skill enhancement among Saudi finance professionals.
