The Work Interruption Reporting Service is a digital service by Saudi Arabia’s Qiwa platform under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. It enables employers to file official reports of expatriate workers’ absence from work according to regulatory procedures to protect employers' and employees' rights, ensuring transparency and fairness in the labor market. The service facilitates rapid and documented absentee reports without visiting labor offices.

Employers log into their Qiwa business account, go to “Contract Management,” then select “Employees Absent from Work.” They choose the absent employee(s) and submit a report specifying the reason from predefined options. Instant electronic notifications are sent to employees, giving them an opportunity to respond or communicate if absences are justified.

The system verifies eligibility conditions such as the worker being expatriate, contract expired or invalid, and valid residency for over 60 days. Upon qualification, the absence status is formally recorded, and contract details are updated with social insurance and related authorities. Termination requests can also be submitted and monitored electronically.

This service stabilizes the labor market by reducing unexcused absences, protects employers against losses from absenteeism, and ensures employees' rights. It facilitates legal and organized communication for handling emergencies or sick leaves.
